Instant Messaging Communications (IMC)
If your company's not on board with instant messaging, it's time to get started.

Organisations are adopting IM solutions for the advantages that can be brought by it. As organisations become more information based, the need for effective knowledge sharing, team working and collaborative environments amongst employees has become vital, especially within more geographically dispersed teams.

  Primary benefits of IMC:

* Quick questions and clarifications
* Co-ordinating and scheduling tasks
* Co-ordinating important business meetings
* Keeping in touch with colleagues and partners
* Initiate Collaboration (view files, calendar, click-to-dial)

IMC offers strong encryption, along with Directory (Active Directory/LDAP) integration. It also provides corporate messaging policy management through the use of shared public groups and role based user access rights.

Working with your existing Directory means administrators don't have to create user accounts manually, users can use the same name and password as their Directory accounts. Personal information (e.g. telephone number and email address) can also be read from the Directory Server.

Role based access right system allows administrators to control user access to send files, initiate chats and conferences, and to "lock down" contact lists so that they can't be modified.

You can control who users are allowed to talk to, therefore setting up "walls" so that one group can not talk to another group.

Messages are archived on the server into both flat files and databases. Archived messages can be viewed using an integrated Audit Tool. Messages can be archived to two databases running on different servers for
redundancy and fault tolerance.

A Browser based Client module allows the system to be used via a browser e.g. this allows you to host your own live help system to provide support to your customers online.

IMC can also be used on a private network without connecting to the Internet. It can easily be setup for use inside and outside the company firewall, and also works across corporate VPN.

  Features at a glance:

No Network Setup:
IP multicasting means clients find the server automatically and you can move the server to a different machine without having to reconfigure clients.

Encryption:
All communication, including file transfer, is done through a 128-bit encrypted channel to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the data.

Authentication:
Access is via a zero-knowledge protocol that authenticates both the server and the client.

Works in LAN or WAN:
Unlike public IM systems, IMC only requires a LAN to function. Communications continue even if your company's Internet connection is interrupted. Access by external users is still possible through corporate VPN, or by configuring the server firewall to accept external connections.

Increased Productivity:
IMC does not allow users to talk to people outside of the system. This decreases time people spend talking to outsiders on non-work related issues using public IM systems.

Feature Rich:
Real-time chat, private text conferencing sessions, online presence management, file transfer, emergency alerts/notifications, message logs, powerful rich-text editor, and typing indicator.

Familiar User Interface:
If you are familiar with AOL or MSN you will be using our products like a pro in no time.

Contact List Query:
Users can query for people to add to their contact list by searching for their real names.

Customisation:
Almost all aspect of IMC can be changed and tailored to suit your work habits.

VPN Friendly:
Optionally, IMC can use a manually entered IP address instead of multicasting. This allows the Akeni Enterprise Messenger to be used across most VPNs very easily.

Firewall Friendly:
All communication, including file transfers, is done through the server, so it works every time, even across personal firewalls.
